How To Find A New Job After Getting Fired As A Medical Biller

Your career as a medical biller was going great until ICD-10 came out.  It is hard to imagine yourself finding a new job because you don’t understand this new coding system.  The biggest mistake that you can possibly make is to try and get another job as a medical biller.  I say this because education today is extremely important. It is important for you to go back to school and learn more about ICD-10. Today, there are many certification courses that a person can take in coding.  They can learn more about the industry and see to it that they have a lot more to focus on than they ever did before. Understand that coding today is a lot different than it was under ICD-9. Today, coders are working with longer codes and having to explain in detail what is being treated. It is important to learn more about treating ailments.  Some people say that learning more about anatomy takes time and a lot of strong effort.  It takes time to learn more about medical billing because there are a lot of codes to become familiar with. Under ICD-9, there were around 14,000 codes and under ICD-10, there are around 69,000.  That is a whopper of a difference. I understand that you need to make a living and going back to school may not be on your list.  However, without proper education, you will find yourself on the unemployment line again.  It will happen rather quickly.  The main reason for this is that physicians are finding very little value in working with people that are not experts in the…

Medical Billing is Quite An Important Aspect Of Any Medical Practice

Medical billing is quite an important aspect of any medical practice, it is the process of translating patient records into medical codes and then the creation of insurance claims and patient bills to be sent out for reimbursement. Good medical billing companies also follow up on reimbursements and claim denials, and do not consider themselves done with the process until your money is in your hands. Medical billing can be done in office or outsourced to a medical billing company, whichever solution is best for you and your company. Medical billing done in house can be done manually or electronically, but it is recommended that whoever you have doing your medical billing is a trained and specialized professional in the medical billing industry, otherwise, you can open up a world of issues and struggles in the financial aspect of your practice. Insurance claims often get submitted late or ineligibly, they get submitted with missing information, and sometimes even with inaccurate information, and without being specially educated in the medical billing process, it’s easy to overlook all of these aspects in the billing process. Medical billers need to be detail oriented and highly trained in their field, and if they aren’t, denials may be common, and this means losing time and money that you otherwise wouldn’t have to. Medical billing companies pride themselves in having highly trained and professional individuals working on your medical billing, and the reimbursement rates greatly improve…
